When in despair over war in the
middle east, racial tension in the Midwest, corruption in politics, I take a
deep breath, relax my anger and look for humor amid chaos. My mentor in doing so
is my old friend Paul Krassner. Check out this interview with him: wp.me/p2DHGh-hC
I’ve eschewed blogging for some time.
ReplyDeleteI was drowning in blogs and decided not to contribute to the toxic sea.
I finished a novel, let a few people read it, and haven’t heard from them in months.
I blog now to soften up my silent critics.
I feel paranoid but not targeted. If I thought the government was tracking me (which it is, but me no more than anyone else), it would be sheer hubris.
As for our leaders, they control the means of mass communication and are masters of mind control. Using the Internet to inspire a peaceful revolution in the name of peace and love, creating a new society, one without laws or leaders, how long would it take before the masters declared peace and love a threat?
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”
--Thomas Jefferson
“A large section of the idling classes of England get their incomes by believing that Jesus was born of a virgin and that Jonah swallowed a whale; and with the progress of science they were naturally finding this more and more difficult. A school of ingenious Bible-twisters arose, to invent symbolical and literary meanings for fairy tales, in order that people who no longer believed could continue with good conscience to collect the salaries of belief.”
― Upton Sinclair, Mammonart: An Essay in Economic Interpretation
And so it begins again.
